New Brewery Coming To Mercer County
The proliferation of local breweries here in the Garden State seems never ending, and now we can add a new beer maker to the list, right in Hamilton Township.
Bent Iron Brewing will be Hamilton’s first Brewery. Moreover, it will be located on a 55 acre farm off of Extonville Road. According to Brew Master David Ascione, the plan is for the brewery to make creative, consistent beers using farm grown ingredients. In addition, the beer will be served in a fun, welcoming, and wide open farm setting.
The idea for Bent Iron Brewing came to it’s founders, Peter Brittian, Jon Kanuck, and David Sass during the COVID-19 pandemic. Construction of the five thousand square foot barn will begin immediately, and will be home to the beer production facility, as well as a taproom. All beers will be brewed on site and will be available for purchase.
However, that’s not all the brewery will have to offer. Also being constructed is a large outdoor seating area with a “hop yard” that patrons can stroll through, not unlike a wine vineyard. Fire pits will round out the outdoor ambiance.
At the recent Bent Iron Brewing groundbreaking ceremony, Hamilton Mayor Jeff Martin said “the craft brewery market in New Jersey has grown exponentially in recent years. I am thrilled that Bent Iron has chosen Hamilton for its location.” Martin went on to say that “Bent Iron will bring a fresh new life to our Hamilton economy by drawing in tourists and locals.”
So make your plans for later this year for a trip to Hamilton Township, and a little farm with big plans for the future! Bent Iron Brewery plans to open in the Fall of 2023. Just in time to get those fire pits going, and some new hops flowing in Mercer County. You can follow along on the brewery’s progress at their website https://www.bentironbrewing.com/#/ .
