Devon Thompson’s debut single and accompanying music video “Soft Like Water” is a truly elemental work of art. Like a river winding towards a waterfall, It flows gently at times and pounds down furiously at others. It’s fluid qualities reflect the multi-faceted nature of the singer/songwriter/guitar player. Water can take on many forms and it’s likely Devon Thompson’s music can do the same. Whether that form is of soothing rainfall or a driving thunderstorm, we look forward to more releases drifting our way.
Though not based in NJ, Devon Thompson has a strong connection to the Garden State. Christopher The Minister, a Music Industry Veteran, fixture of the NJ music scene, Yoga studio owner/operator and, of course, On-Air Personality on 95.9 The RAT, discovered the young artist.
Describing a subtle part of his everyday life Minister said:
” When I’m not doing the 7-12 Gospel show on WRAT, I’m always on the look out for new artists who have music roots from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s.“
Minister has a history of working with high-level talent. He managed Daniel Ash of Bauhaus and worked with the likes of Puscifer, The Flaming Lips and many more. He’s already logged a decent amount of time with Devon Thompson, who he believes has a bright and dark musical future. He said:
“I have spent the last 2 years working with Devon who I knew had this Rock / Dark Vibe waiting to come out.“
