Kids Getting Some More Sleep Time Before School !
Looks like the times have changed. Apparently the kids up in Bergen County are not getting enough sleep, so a school district it pushing back it’s start time. Classes at the Ridgewood High School will almost start by getting what we use to call delay openings for when it snowed.
That’s right, starting in September, school for the kids will be pushed back 35 minutes later now then the regular start time. Classes and school will start at 8:20 am instead of the regular time from other high schools that is 750ish. The Ridgewood school board of ed approved the change this past Monday night. Also it looks the Fairleigh Dickinson University came out with a poll that said and found out a huge majority of the great state on New Jersey people would go fo the later time for the kids to start.
The earliest classes could start would be 8:30 am. Now this will not be the first high school to do this time switch. Princeton High school did this back in September of 2018, and the talk of Ridgewood High School started the talks before Covid 19 hit us. School board members are saying there is data and science behind the time change, and the town and community has a lot of backing and support on this.
I just remember growing up my parents had me and my brothers out the door in order to be at school on time, just so they can make it to work on time themselves. Plus it was for to get out of the house and give my parents some peace and quiet. Heck when I was a kid and a teacher called my mom saying I was to tired the teacher would say ” your son might be on something” My mother would say give him a cup of coffee and put a foot up his skinny butt !” So do you think Rat Rockers school should start a bit later for the kids or keep it the same time ?
Thank you for reading and as always thank you for rocking out with me and 95.9 The Rat-Gotts
