Wally Day Parade And Party To Honor 100 Year Old Jackson Resident!
Happy Wally Day! Well not until Saturday but still, it’s coming!
This Saturday, February 18th, the Wally Day Parade takes place honoring Jackson Township resident Wally Jamison, his 100th birthday! The parade will step off at 11:30 am from the Jackson Justice Complex. Then head down Bennett’s Mills Road, ending at the Jackson Veterans Of Foreign Wars Post, located at 54 Magnolia Drive in Jackson.
However, that’s just the beginning! Once the parade ends the birthday party begins!
The after-parade events begin at noon, right at VFW Post 4703. There will be live music, food and beverages, a ceremony honoring Wally, and of course birthday cake! A quote from the Jackson Police Department says, “We hold Wally Jamison, as well as all past and present members of our military in regard and hope you celebrate this amazing event with us.” The Jackson PD really does want to have as many people there as can make it for this very special event. A cash bar will be available for persons over 21 years of age, and the event runs until 4:30 pm.
Besides, Wally Jamison isn’t just any 100-year-old!
Wally Jamison is a World War Two Veteran. Not just a Veteran, but a Combat Veteran! Wally fought for freedom around the world and as a reward has gotten to live a century! Wally Jamison was born on Feb. 22, 1923, in the Bennetts Hills section of Jackson. Wally was married twice, in 1942 and again in 1982. Jamison has five children: Linda, June Anne, Stephen, Marc, and Dawn; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren to boot! Wally worked for over four decades as a member of the Ocean County Road Department. So please join everyone in town for this monumental event honoring a true town hero, Stephen “Wally” Jamison! Happy Birthday, Wally, here’s to the next one hundred!
