Today, February 13, 2023, is the last day you can get one of the best breakfasts and lunches in Belmar because our beloved Acropolis Diner at 506 Main Street will be no more. Thanks to our friend Glen Kislowski for the heads up. We'll see you at the Belmar - Lake Como St Pat's Parade.

Belmar is moving forward with re-development plans and will be building more condominiums and a few new retail spaces. Drop in and say goodbye and good luck to these wonderful people.

Tomorrow is another day, and that's when you can drown your sorrows in pancakes, 8 varieties of French toast, Omelettes, Juicy Burgers, and Polish comfort food at Comfi of Belmar at 707 Main Street. They are back and better than ever after being closed for renovations for well over a year.

If you want to know how good the food is, then check out these reviews:

Brian – “Best breakfast place ever. Their menu has everything, but their specialty items are like no place else. The recipes combine so many interesting ingredients. The portions are huge for the price. Highly recommend anything with pierogies or their potato pancakes.”

Megan B. - We were so excited to get back to Comfi this morning! We love supporting other local small businesses and Comfi did not disappoint! I ate the entire stuffed pierogi omelet myself!! Can’t wait to go back soon for lunch!

My wife and I were regulars at the Old Bridge location. When it changed hands we headed down to Belmar. We were not disappointed!! This place is our all-time favorite. The food is amazing and the portions are huge!

Our waitress Christina was fantastic. Jacek the owner came to our table to greet us. Such a nice generous man. I can’t praise this place enough Recommended dishes Pierogies, French Toast, Meat Lovers, Pancakes Kielbasa Scrambled Eggs Home Fries, Classic Pancakes.

I'm a big fan of sushi but unfortunately my husband is not. When I'm feeling like a sushi dinner is in order, I have to find a place that not only has great sushi but offers other delicious options. The closest my husband has ever come to eating raw fish is smoked salmon. He loves his bagels and lox.

We have just a few places in rotation that we like, but I’m looking to expand our list. After extensive research that includes talking to people in our community, I was able to come up with a list of the best sushi places in Ocean County.

Koi Hibachi & Kitchen - 1256 Indian Head Rd, Toms River, NJ 08755

This place is beautiful! The service is impeccable and the sushi dishes are artfully prepared and delicious. They offer Hibachi, as well as Thai and Chinese dishes. The only thing that's missing is a bar, so it's B.Y.O.B. They have another location called Koi Asian Fusion - 25 Brick Blvd in Brick, NJ 08723. Not as pretty as the Toms River location ,but the food is just as good.

Xina Restaurant - 3430 NJ-37, Toms River, NJ 08753

Winner of the 2022 WRAT Shore Award for "Best Sushi On The Shore" as voted by our listening audience. It also happens to hold a  place on my personal top 5 list.

Sáfu Sushi - I0, Washington St, Toms River, NJ 08753

This is Sáfu Sushi's 2nd location which opened in September 2022.  Their Lavallette location is closed for season. There's quite a buzz around town about this place! According to Alexis's 5 star review:  Sáfu Sushi is a hip, new location in Downtown Toms River, bringing sleek and modern vibes with it. The atmosphere is inviting and warm, the menu straight to the point, the staff friendly and welcoming!
The sushi was made just right and tasted so fresh. Very excited to have a new sushi spot in town within walking distance of some hot spots such as Battle River Brewing, Huddy Park and more. Definitely stop in and give them a chance, you will not regret it!

Ikko - 107 Brick Plaza, Brick Township, NJ 08723

My friend Mitchell travels from Marlboro to eat here! I've heard really good things about Ikko from WRAT listeners and members of food pages on social media.

Fuji 72 Japanese Steakhouse - 626 NJ-72, Manahawkin, NJ 08050

The locals and the tourists love the food and the attentive staff. It all looks really good to me.

U House - 456 Atlantic City Blvd, Bayville, NJ 08721

Joe from Bayville gave me the heads up about this place. He and his co-workers get take-out at least twice a week. It's next on my list of places to try.

Uminoya Japanese Restaurant - 1830 Hooper Ave, Toms River, NJ 08753

My colleague of the last 26 years knows food and what's good in the Silverton section of Toms River. When you want Silverton's finest food offerings, just ask Jimmy Steal.

Teresa's Osaka Asian Bistro - 1801 NJ-37, Toms River, NJ 08753

I love Teresa! She is warm and friendly and knows how to show her customers a good time. I first started coming here maybe 15 years ago. The first time I walked in the door, there was a karaoke party in the sushi bar and everyone was having a blast. It's a great B.Y.O.B. place with good sushi and really good Pad Thai.

Kumo Asian fusion - : 62 Brick Blvd, Brick Township, NJ 08723

Across the street from Koi Asian Fusion on Brick Boulevard is a tiny place that I almost had dinner at 2 weeks ago. Kumo is a place that I've been dying to try before Covid hit. I had my chance 2 weeks ago but they were only open for take-out at this time. We would have done take-out if we weren't with another couple and hubby's obsession with hot food. We live quite a distance, so hubby's food would have been cold by the time we got home. I'll just have to order solo.

Ginza Japanese Restaurant - 864 NJ-37, Toms River, NJ 08755

It's a place you need to put in the GPS because it's too far to see from Route 37. It sits behind the Mule Rd. jug handle, and unless you live in the area or go to the other businesses in the strip mall, you'll never be able to find it. Thank goodness for word of mouth and the men and women at the nail salon who frequent this place.
