Enough is enough! Weeks have turned into months. months have turned into years. The Pandemic came and went. New restaurants have popped up in town. However 11 Kettle Creek Road has remained dormant. Well this Silvertonian has had enough, and I'm not alone! We want to know what the hell is ever going into the former Charlie Browns in our community!
Rumors Rumors...
All we get are rumors. Rumors and social media lies from local hooligans. First there was the great Pizza Hut hoax from the Summer of 2021, where some rascals hung a sign saying the franchise would be moving into the CB locale. In a strange twist of fate Pizza Hut has subsequently moved into Silverton, all be it across Hooper avenue, not into Charlie Browns.
And More Rumors!
Next came word that it was to be a Hooters. I find that hard to believe, since most new Hooters franchises are now walk in counter locations, like the aforementioned new Pizza Hut, and Hooter rival, Wing Stop on Route 37 in town. Other rumors bandied about included a sports betting venue, a house of worship, and a catering hall. All seem to have yet gained any momentum.
Then signs of life!
Suddenly, some action has been seen over the last couple of weeks at the abandoned restaurant, with what looks to be interior demolition work being done, and fresh new shingle packs placed on the slanted roof of the building, opening eyes, and rekindling the rumor mill. Two of the latest rumors were that Cuzin's Seafood & Clam Bar, who already have thriving locations in New Brunswick and Marlboro, would be taking over the space. This idea was met with great anticipation by many locals, including myself! However, I did reach out to Cuzins via their Instagram account asking about the rumor, and have yet to hear back.
Silverton deserves to know!
Another recent bit of info I have been seeing on local Silverton social media pages, involves the opening of "Roxy's Bar & Grill" at the old Charlie Browns. Truth? Hoax? Who knows, but two things are for sure. Progress is slowly being made towards something coming to that building, and this reporter will not quit until he finds out what the hell it is! For all of us.
