Brent Smith made a surprise appearance with Lynyrd Skynyrd during their November 13 gig at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.

The Shinedown frontman joined Skynyrd on stage to perform their classic ballad “Simple Man.” Shinedown covered the ballad on their 2003 debut album Leave a Whisper.

Johnny Van Zant gave a quick intro before bringing Smith out on stage, who he addressed as “Mr. Smith.” Before launching into “Simple Man,” Van Zant said, “I’ll tell you, this boy’s voice is so strong, I go, ‘Holy crap!'”

In other Shinedown news: The band is heading overseas for a series of dates in the U.K. and Europe to close out 2022 starting with a November 26 gig in Cardiff, Wales. The batch of dates wraps on December 9 in Helsinki, Finland. A complete list of tour dates can be found at Shinedown.com.
