Always a driven, upbeat, hard-worker, Manny Cabo continues to inspire. His latest single is proof that passion can be converted into something palpable. “Mi Angelito” is a cover of Sevendust’s “Angel’s Son.” It’s a beautiful composition featuring killer guitar work by David Ricco. However, there is much more to this single than what one would normally expect from a cover. It’s more of a reincarnation than a recreation because Cabo and Ricco rebuilt the track from the ground up. Manny Cabo translated the song into Spanish, a daunting task because he had to make it fit with the music. Like an renaissance artisan carving an angel out of a slab of marble, Manny Cabo put in the work and came up with something brilliant.
Cabo wrote of the song,
” Over 10 years ago I decided I would translate one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite bands Sevendust to edify my grandmother and the recent passing of my dad.”
Sevendust took notice of the single and invited Manny Cabo to perform the song with them before a sold out crowd at the Starland Ballroom on September 16. Excerpts from the performance are included in the music video.
