Forked River Man Kills Wife, Dumps Body On Monmouth County Road

A Forked River man turned himself into police after allegedly killing his wife and leaving her body on the side of the road in Monmouth County. A motorist found the body of 51-year-old Dawn Cruz with severe injuries near Asbury and Colonial avenues in Ocean Township around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. 51-year-old Jeremy Cruz was charged with murder in the slaying of his wife according to county authorities. No further details surrounding the woman’s death have been released.
A juvenile is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Sayreville. It happened in the Parlin section just after midnight Monday, with the victim reporting her Swider Drive apartment was broken into, she was woken up, sexually assaulted, and robbed. The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office notes the juvenile would have faced sexual assault, burglary, and theft charges if he was an adult, instead of the current charge of juvenile delinquency.
Meanwhile, police patrols are increased in New Brunswick near Rutgers University after two women were groped in the middle of the night over the weekend. Both incidents on Central Avenue, the assailant entering homes through unlocked first floor windows. The descriptions supplied vary slightly from account to account, given the two day period, with the latest indicating a Black man in his late twenties or early thirties, seen in a black baseball cap, sunglasses, and dark clothing with a blue vest.
All seven early voting sites in Atlantic County were closed for a period of time Monday as internet services provided by AT&T were down. Officials are saying voters were issued provisional ballots. Those ballots are only counted once the voter has been verified and confirmed as an eligible voter. Some voters opted to leave and did not want to use a provisional ballot. The outage occurred from roughly 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
