You don’t have to go to Munich to enjoy Oktoberfest! Just head to Asbury Park this weekend for the 7th annual Asbury Festhalle and Biergarten Oktoberfest celebration! The Asbury Festhalle is located at 527 Lake avenue in Asbury park, and if you’ve never been, this is the weekend to roll out the barrel!
You may have heard me on the air the last few days talking with brewmasters from some of the most famous german breweries in the world. Well, they will be serving their suds all weekend long at the Festhalle’s Oktoberfest celebration! But that’s just the tip of the schnitzel!
There will be tons of food, from authentic german bratwurst and other sausages to potato pancakes, german salads, desserts, and of course everyone’s favorite, the giant pretzel that’s bigger than your head!
Plus get ready for some awesome live authentic Oktoberfest music! The Mountain Express starts things off Friday at 7 pm. Then things really get cookin’ on Saturday. First off, the rat pack and yours truly will be set up with games and giveaways right as doors open at 12 noon. At 1 pm get ready for the polka family band, followed by the polka country musicians at 6 pm. Sunday’s entertainment is the John Stevens Polka Band at 1 and the Doppelgangers at 5. All the while there will be eating, drinking, dancing, stein hoisting, and a lot of yelling of the word “prost!”
Enjoy all the great German beers this weekend and as always drink responsibly. The Asbury Festhalle hours this weekend are as follows, Friday the party starts at 4 pm, and it’s a 12 noon start both Saturday and Sunday. I hope to see you this weekend at the Festhalle Oktoberfest! Don’t forget your lederhosen!
