The NJ Cannabis Regulatory Commission Releases Guidelines

An offshore wind farm developer has laid out its plans to hopefully minimize traffic impacts for a section of Atlantic City.  The plans were released Thursday at a community meeting to reduce traffic footprints in the Bungalow Park section of Atlantic City.  The company says workers for the off-shore wind farm will arrive at the five acre site at 6 a.m. to start their twelve hour shifts and catch a boat to the worksite.  A small group of residents, who are against the clean energy project, remain cautious about truck traffic and the impact the dozens of workers will have on local traffic.  The state has approved the construction of two large wind farms off the Atlantic City coast which will provide hundreds of jobs for local and state residents.

There’s been comments about what your workplace can do if you test positive for marijuana in a work drug test.  While New Jersey businesses have the right to enforce a drug-free workplace, a positive drug test upon arriving is not grounds for termination.  That’s what the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission says.  They also say:  that employees should also not be disciplined solely for a positive weed test.  But being high AT work could be a different story, so take care Cheech.  Click here to download the commission's statement.

A former Paterson, New Jersey police chief is sentenced to prison for illegal stops, searches, and thefts.  PIX-11 reports 51-year-old Michael Cheff, of Oakland, was convicted in May of filing a false report,  with five of his officers pleading guilty, having given him a cut of money they stole between 2016 and 2018.  Cheff was convicted of approving the officers' bogus reports and logging evidence to create the illusion of true police work.  Cheff is sentenced to 33-years behind bars, followed by three years of supervised release.

Good financial news for the state:  New Jersey’s credit rating on general obligation bonds from Fitch Ratings has bumped from A-minus to “A”.  First upgrade since 1992.
