Double Trouble State Park Reopens

Double Trouble State Park has re-opened to the public after it was closed last week due to incidents involving rabid foxes. State Environmental Officials are saying the fox has not been spotted since August 29th and animals only live a week after contracting rabies. They don’t believe it’s the same animal that bit residents in Lakewood.
A former resident of Barnegat has been positively identified as the killer of an Ocean Township woman in a cold case more than thirty years old. Prosecutors in Ocean County ID’d the man as John Pelletier. He died in 2015 in North Dakota. On October 26th, 1991, the woman’s body was found in a densely wooded area of Barnegat, she had been assaulted and stabbed after being seen in a bar in Asbury Park. Several state, county and local entities contributed in the multi-decade investigation.
The Asbury Park High School football team is eligible to resume playing. Eligibility issues related to the students had them cancel at least one practice and game. News Twelve reports that Superintendent Rashawn Adams reexamined the situation and found that 18 players meet the criteria for play this week.
Police in Monmouth County say they’re seeing a trend of high end car thefts where by robbers enter homes to get key fobs. Then drive off with the cars. So, the good news is people aren’t leaving their key fobs in cars as much. Bad news is thieves are entering homes, which brings more danger. Cops say, keep doors locked.
