The Ocean Township Italian Festival happens this weekend! This year marks the 46th anniversary of the fest. It’s also the 46th anniversary of The Italian American Association of the Township of Ocean (IAATO) an organization that is dedicated to children, families, and the fostering of the Italian-American heritage and culture.
The Italian American Association of the Township of Ocean was started by a few dedicated members, and over the years, has grown into a membership that is now over 400 strong! The five-day Italian Festival annually attracts over 80,000 people with a taste for traditional Italian foods and wholesome family fun.
The Festival runs Wednesday through Sunday, August 10th through the 14th, from 5 pm to 11 pm daily. The festival is once again being held in its usual spot at Joe Palaia Park, 200 Whalepond Road in the Oakhurst section of Ocean Township. Tons of rides for kids big and small, a HUGE Fifty-Fifty Raffle, with first, second, and third place cash prizes, fun games, live entertainment, and of course the food! Pizza, pasta, sausage and peppers, zeppole, cannoli, and more.
Speaking of great Italian food, one of the nightly highlights of the festival will be the Galbani Cooking Series! You probably know the Galbani name from their awesome Mozzarella and Ricotta cheeses in your supermarket. Well, each night at the festival, Galbani Celebrity Chef Marco will hold a cooking demo!
In addition, on Saturday and Sunday nights just before the demo, there will be a Galbani Children’s Cheese Stacking Contest! How great is that!!! The IAATO Italian American Association’s Festival is “Dedicated to All the Children”, with much of the funds generated by the Association directed back to community groups and the IAATO Continuing Education Scholarship Program. So it’s fun for a great cause!
Parking can get a little crazy so arrive early and follow the local parking signs. Then get ready for Mangia! It’s this weekend friends, the 46 Annual Italian American Association of the Township of Ocean (IAATO) Italian Festival, running through Sunday night! Be like Columbus and discover it!

Believe it or not, Jimmy’s first job was overnights at a Christian Radio Station. He claims he got into radio because like Rocky Balboa once said, “cause I can’t sing or dance.” Jimmy loves to write about all local happenings, especially around his town of Toms River.
