Listen, I get it. We live in a fast paced digital yesterdays news is 15 minutes old kind of world. Yes I know Monday is August 1st, and I know I’ve been seeing back to school ads on tv for the past week or two. But come on now, Halloween? October 31st? That’s 3 months away! It’s true though. Word on the street is that the Spirit Halloween on Route 36 in West Long Branch is open! Plus others are set to start popping up as early as next week!!!! The first week of freakin’ August! Stop the haunted insanity people! I know I know, people love love love Halloween. My friend Jill lives her live around October 31st, ghouls and goblins and whatnot. My wife can’t wait to get Mums in late August in anticipation of them drying out and dying a cold lonely death during the first October frost. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Fall! The leaves changing, Football, Octoberfests, heck, I got married in October! The reason I like Fall so much? BECAUSE IT’S IN THE FALL!

So stop rushing everything. I’m sure the CEO of Spirit Halloween, Frank N. Stein, or whatever his name is, wants to make as much money for his shareholders as early and quickly as he can. Traditionally, things like Halloween costumes are recession proof, along with candy corn and Elvira dvds. But my god, opening a store in July ? That is as much of a trick for us normal Summer loving Jersey Shore beach folks as it is a treat for the Halloween lovers, that’s for sure! Now before you send your nasty emails trashing me as an angry Halloweenie, I must say I truly enjoy a trip to the good old Spirt Halloween. They are great for grabbing just the right costume or makeup, or for just scaring the sh*t out of your 4 year old. But please…I beg you..Wait til Labor Day before you put your pumpkin out? Thanks.

PS, I hate candy corn too. http://gty.im/1283109470
