It’s the Davey Mac Sports Report for Tuesday, July 26th, 2022!   Catch up on what you missed yesterday in Sports with the article below!

Let’s start with baseball……where the Phillies took down the Braves last night in a big N.L. East contest…final score…6 to 4.    The Phils’ Bryson Scott slugged his seventh home run of the year and had 5 R.B.I. in total.   The Phillies are now just a half game out of a playoff spot (as we have three Wild Card spots for each league this year).    This evening the Phils take on the Braves again in another, huge, divisional matchup.

The Yankees and Mets were both off.     TONIGHT…however…the Yankees and Mets begin a Subway Series this evening at Citi Field!   Currently, the Yankees lead the A.L. East by 12-and-a-half games over the Blue Jays.   The Mets have a two game lead over the Braves for first in the N.L. East.   What a night for local baseball fans, baby!   YES!

Basketball.     Former L.A. Laker Slava Medvedenko is having to sell his two NBA Championship rings that he won with the Lakers in order to raise funds for his home country of Ukraine.   Medvedenko played with Kobe and Shaq on the title-winning Lakers teams of 2001 and 2002.

Football.   NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has revealed that the NFL will now announce its own streaming service called NFL Plus.   Goodell called it “an important day in the history of the National Football League” and said it would be a two-tier system.

The first tier will be $4.99 a month (or a discounted $39.99 per year) and will include local games and national primetime games. The second tier will be $9.99 a month (or a discounted $79.99 per year) and will include extra features like coaches film.

So, here’s my take on it.   I’m a huge sports fan.   And I like streaming services.   But, Geez Lousise, I’m already paying for an exorbitant cable bill AND a million streaming services and now the NFL is making me pay for more football?!   Can we ever get a break as fans?!   Also, I’m sick of Goodell!   There I said it!
