It’s the Davey Mac Sports Report for Friday, July 22nd, 2022! Catch up on what you missed yesterday in Sports with the article below!
Let’s start with baseball…where it was a rough day for the Yankees in Houston yesterday as the Yanks were swept in a double-header by the Astros.
In Game 1, the Yanks lost 3 to 2. Jordan Montgomery pitched well but the Yankees continue to NOT score when Monty is on the mound. Since 2021, Jordan Montgomery has actually gotten the least run support of ANY pitcher in the Big Leagues. Tough loss there.
Then in Game 2, the Astros took down the Yankees…7 to 5. Domingo German receives the loss. The Yankees still have the best record in Baseball at 64 and 30…but they HAVE to figure out the Astros by the time October rolls around. It’s pivotal the Yankees prepare to beat the Astros in the postseason.
The Mets and Phillies were off. This evening the Mets take on the Padres at Citi Field. The Phillies go against the Cubs in Philly. The Yankees play the Orioles in Baltimore.
Football. The Browns are signing quarterback Josh Rosen to a one-year deal, according to ESPN. Rosen is a former first-round pick but struggled mightily in the NFL. He was last on the Falcons in a backup role.
Basketball. The Sixers have re-signed All Star James Harden to a new deal for two years, worth $68.6 million. Harden is a ten-time All Star and says he wants to win a title in Philly.
In other sports news, legendary athlete Bo Jackson is helping to pay for the funerals for victims of the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas. Bo of course is the only player to make an MLB All Star team and an NFL Pro Bowl. Classy move, Bo.
