Heads Up: Stolen Lottery Scratch Offs Shouldn’t Be Turned In
And other fun on today’s No Sweat News
Here’s a fun fact: Stolen lottery tickets shouldn’t be turned in if they’re winners. Why? Because they can tell which tickets have been stolen so they’ll pop you when try to collect the money!
Today’s No Sweat News video is posted below for your dining and dancing pleasure… and so you can win tickets to see Rob Zombie at the Arts Center on July 31st on tomorrow’s No Sweat News Quiz.
Up first today: A testing mix up at a nuclear power plant in New Hampshire scared the crap out of everyone within earshot when the system mistakenly announced, “There’s a problem at the plant, please run for your lives!” (Ok, it said it with a bit more of a technical approach, but that’s basically the gist.).
People took it seriously until the managers at the plant caught wind of the problem and sounded the, “all clear”.
Up second for today: Death By Ice Cream doesn’t sound like such a bad way to go but in this case that’s what happened to a small ice cream company in Kansas City. They neglected to put a peanut warning on their “Death By Chocolate” ice cream and, as you know, people with extreme peanut allergies can actually keel over from eating one by mistake. Thankfully the problem was picked up before the ice cream did any one in…
And thirdly comes the story of Wayne from Dublin. He stole cash and lottery scratch offs from a convenience store in January and was just caught. Why? Because one of the lottery tickets hit for $5000 and he tried to collect. Sad fact: any time a ticket is stolen, lottery officials know what it likely is by the ID scan… so they can easily arrest anyone who tries to turn it in. So much for my retirement plan of stealing lottery tickets!
