I LOVE fresh fruits and vegetables! I buy most of my produce at the grocery store, but I’d much rather get my veggie haul from local farms and produce stands.
Yesterday, Jimmy Steal gave me a large bok choy and a beautiful head of cabbage that was left over from his wife’s place of employment. He didn’t know where the stuff was sourced, but now I need to know because I turned that bok choy into a beautiful meal with sliced mushrooms, and onions, along with sliced beef, and brown sauce. I love creating meals in a thousand different ways, it’s my passion! Now if I can only get Gotts to eat something green and healthy.
I’ve been to Delicious Orchards and a few other places, but I never really shopped at local roadside stands or local farms. I live in New Jersey!! I should be ashamed of myself. How neglectful of me.
Jimmy just mentioned that I’d be in heaven if I made my way to Silverton Farms. Have you been there?
I would love it if you wouldn’t mind sharing your absolute “Go-To” places to shop for a colorful bounty of produce.
It’s Summer, and to me, it’s a sin to buy produce at the grocery store this time of year.
I love peaches that are so juicy that when you sink your teeth into them, the juice drips down your arm.
I love 99% of all vegetables, the greener, the better. And of course, I love Jersey corn and tomatoes.
Help a fellow Rat rocker and hit me up with suggestions on where I should go to load up on local produce?

Margarita
Teri Virbickis/Shutterstock.comWaste away with five simple ingredients: Tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, ice and kosher salt. Don't waste your time with sour mix.
Negroni
Micaela Fiorellini/Shutterstock.comThe Negroni is equal parts London dry gin, Campari and vermouth rosso, and it's equal parts satisfying and refreshing.
Pina Colada
Liliya Kandrashevich/Shutterstock.comRum, pineapple juice, coconut cream and ice all blended together, the Pina Colada is an island paradise in a glass, regardless of whether or not you enjoy getting caught in the rain.
Mai Tai
Brent Hofacker/Shutterstock.comYou could serve this tropical delight in a tiki-style glass, but a standard large Collins glass is just as fun with this dark rum-based cocktail.
Paloma
iuliia_n/Shutterstock.comThe Paloma has had a bit of a resurgence, and it's understandable why. Tequila, lime juice, and grapefruit soda on the rocks? What's not to love?
Hurricane
Brent Hofacker/Shutterstock.comSaving the sweetest for last. A Hurricane is like dessert in a glass! Created in New Orleans, this dark rum, passion fruit syrup and lemon juice cocktail is traditionally garnished with an orange slice and a maraschino cherry. Laissez le bon temps rouler, indeed!
