Sean Tobin & The Boardwalk Fire’s latest release is a Folk Rock opus with a quintessential New Jersey sound. “Ghost of the Arcade,” the band’s third album, is a great labor of musical craftsmanship. The tones seamlessly shift between somber and raucous. It’s a reflective, nostalgic work that would play perfectly in a bar jam-packed with old friends. Of course it’s release would be celebrated across 3 nights of live music.
Sean Tobin & The Boardwalk Fire unleashed “Ghost of the Arcade” last week. Between June 23 and June 25 they rocked Jersey City, New Hope, PA, and, of course, Asbury Park. Originally slated for The Saint, the Asbury Park show had to be moved to the roof of the Asbury Festhalle & Biergarten to accommodate a capacity crowd. Following their epic 3-night release event, the band will tour the US in support of the new album.
The title track “Ghost of the Arcade” is haunting, beautiful, and very catchy. The song and it’s accompanying music video are two of the best things Sean Tobin has produced. It’s no wonder that as of the writing of this feature, “Ghost of the Arcade” has already racked up over 10,000 views on YouTube. We look forward to watching that number climb.
