Jaclyn FaragoNew Jersey's favorite breakfast meat is the star of National Pork Roll Day. May 23rd just might be the most important holiday here in Jersey. I'm originally from New York where they call it Taylor Ham, which I've never eaten until I stepped foot in New Jersey.
In 1996 I moved to New Jersey and this magical thing called pork roll kept popping up everywhere I went. That's when I discovered it's striking resemblance to this thing I only knew as Taylor Ham. I remember getting yelled at by my co-workers here on the shore by continuing to call it Taylor Ham. Nearly 26 years later I now know better and have discovered that it is indeed called Taylor Ham in some parts of Jersey, just NOT in this part of New Jersey!
