New Bakery Coming To Tuckerton Has A Connection To ‘Stranger Things’
Nicolette Jillson from Stafford Twp. is a 29 year old foodie and passionate baker whose tasty treats are about to be consumed by folks beyond just her family and friends. She’s opening a bakery named Joe’s Bake Shop with her Uncle, Gaten Matarazzo Jr.
If that name sounds familiar, I’m guessing you probably watch the Netflix series, “Stranger Things.” Gaten Matarazzo’s son, Gaten Matarazzo plays Dustin on the hit series.
Nicolette was encouraged to go into business during one of her family’s weekly dinners, when the “Stranger Things” actor commented on how delicious her cookies were and suggested she open a bakery. Jillson and Matarazzo Jr. are planning on opening Joe’s Bake Shop sometime in May in the Seaport Plaza at 161 E. Main St in Tuckerton. The bakery is named for her brother, Joseph Olivier, who died in a car accident in 2020.
Nicolette’s specialty is stuffed cookies: Her first creation was a cinnamon brown sugar mixture with cookie butter filling and crushed Biscoff cookies.
The bakery will offer her half pound stuffed cookies, among the half dozen flavors are The Monster’s Cookie, a Nutella stuffed chocolate chip cookie; Get Toasted, a double chocolate graham cracker cookie stuffed with a s’more; and Red White and U, a sweet cream cheese stuffed red velvet cookie with white chocolate, not to mention other baked delights such as cupcakes, cakes, breads, and some traditional pastries.
Their website is currently under construction but you can visit in anticipation of the spectacular grand opening.
