Rocking The Vogel in Red Bank on February 27!
Colossal Street Jam has long been a fixture on the Jersey Rock scene. They are an archetypal jam band with a big, powerful sound. Every member of the group adds something special. The result is something far greater than the sum of its parts. However, at the moment, Colossal Street Jam is without their long-time guitar player. Sal Marra is battling Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Battling such a disease imposes a heavy toll on individuals and their families. The financial hardship inflicted is often significant. Band leader Gene Potts wanted to do something to provide relief, however Sal and his family were against the idea of a go fund me campaign or charitable donations. After some loving arm-twisting Gene managed to convince Sal to let him put on a one-off show at the Vogel in Red Bank. “Night 4 Sal” will celebrate a man who has often stepped up to aid charitable causes with his guitar skills. It will provide the many people whose lives Sal Marra touched an opportunity to say “Thank You.”
“Night 4 Sal” will rock The Vogel at The Count Basie Theater in Red Bank on Sunday February. 27. The night features a double bill of Colossal Street Jam and The Moroccan Sheepherders. Special guests Anthony Krizan, Kenny Dubman, Mike Vanderweerd, Joey Herr of Resurrextion, Jerry Gaskill of Kings X, Sandy Mack, Johnny “Hitman” Burke of Resurrextion, and Anthony Flora will lend their talent to the evening.
Proceeds from ticket sales and special on-site merchandise will benefit Sal Marra. Advance tickets are $30 and are available at thebasie.org.
Tune to Jersey Rock on 95.9 The Rat Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 11:30 pm to learn more about the event and hear cuts from Colossal Street Jam’s catalog. Gene Potts will call in to the show each night!
