Green Day have released a new song, “Holy Toledo!,” which appears on the soundtrack to the movie Mark, Mary & Some Other People.

The track features Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool serving up a punk-fueled sound with a Motown twist, making it one of Green Day’s more unique songs of the past few years. “I wanna go where the trouble begins / And the morning after / Smells just like a dirty ashtray / Oh give shame / And lock me in the shower,” Armstrong sings at the song’s onset.

“Holy Toledo!” follows two other 2021 Green Day singles: “Pollyanna” and “Here Comes the Shock.” This fall, the band also released a live cover version of the KISS classic “Rock and Roll All Nite,” in conjunction with the end of their summer Hella Mega Tour with Fall Out Boy and Weezer.

Green Day’s latest release is 2020’s Father of All…. No word on whether the band’s 2021 singles will appear on an upcoming album.
