RAT Rock News

Slash is shifting to solo mode and has dropped a new song with Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators.

Embedded below is “The River Is Rising,” the first new track from Slash and Co. since the release of 2018’s Living the Dream and the lead single from their new studio album 4. Per Classic Rock, the album is due out on February 11 and is the first new release on Gibson Guitars’ new label, aptly named Gibson Records.

In a new interview clip, Slash said of the album, “This was the first time that we actually did all the guitars, bass and drums live at the same time and kept all those tracks, and we also did the vocals live as well. So the record just sounds like the band playing the songs that we came in with, but it’s us playing in the moment, and that’s what we were going for.”

Regarding the recording process, Kennedy said, ““This one’s pretty much a live record, from my standpoint. You’re just trying to kind of document where you are at that point in life and do it in an authentic way.”

In other Slash news: The guitarist recently took part in an interview with German’s Radio Bob where the topic of Guns N’ Roses’ recent tour and their COVID protocols were brought up. Turns out, the entire tour company had very strict orders.

“It was great because you had all these crowds that were super hungry for live gigs. And so it was a very energetic tour,” said Slash. “At the same time, [we] also had a lot of intense restrictions. We didn’t have any kind of aftershow guests. No guests whatsoever. And we never left the hotel pretty much the entire time. And everybody just had to really keep it together so that we didn’t have somebody get sick and have to postpone the tour and all that kind of stuff. But we made it through unscathed. So it was good.”
