The Middletown Arts Center is an awesome, easy-to-reach destination, that showcases and supports both the fine and performance arts. Located adjacent to the Middletown Train station, it is easily accessible by train, Parkway Exit 114 or Highway 35. The MAC provides classes, experiences, and events for individuals of all ages and skill levels. You can learn to paint, enjoy a professional-grade theatrical experience, catch a musical performance, or sign your child up for a wide array of activities including a summer camp program. The offerings of The MAC are impressive, varied, and even virtual. You can view all they have to offer HERE.
While the Middletown Arts Center is no stranger to musical performance, this summer it will rock in an entirely different way. Beginning 6/24 and running through 8/15 the MAC will house Rock Photography legend Mark Weiss’ “The Decade That Rocked” Exhibit. It includes iconic photos and artifacts from the Glam days of the 1980’s. Ozzy, Motley Crue, Quiet Riot, Dio, Twisted Sister, Joan Jett, Van Halen, Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, Lita Ford, Bon Jovi, Guns N’ Roses and many more are showcased in the exhibit.
The exhibit is available by appointment only. Appointments can be booked HERE. There is no charge for an appointment, however donations to the Middletown Arts Center are Welcome.
“The Decade That Rocked” exhibit kicks off with Weiss Fest, a 3-day event running from 6/24 to 6/26. It includes a reception on 6/24 that will also serve as a fundraiser for The Middletown Arts Center. Tickets are available HERE. 6/25 and 6/26 will feature FREE outdoor concerts presented by Mark Weiss. The bill for 6/25 includes Frankenstein 3000 with special guests Carmine Appice, Bumblefoot, Jerry Gaskill, and Kingston & Greystarr. Kodiak and Black Sabbath tribute act Just Sabbath will also appear on 6/25. On 6/26 original act Gemstone will be joined by Motely Crue tribute Sixx Seconds To Mars. Little Ozzy closes out the festival on Saturday night.
Mark Weiss recently called in to the Jersey Rock Weekly Podcast to talk about Weiss Fest and “The Decade That Rocked” exhibit. Listen to the episode featuring the interview HERE.
