Former New York Giants head coach Jim Fassel has died at the age of 71 from an apparent heart attack.

Fassel was head coach of the Giants from 1997 to 2003 and led them to three playoff berths and a Super Bowl appearance.   Fassel was 58-53-1 overall with the Giants.  He was named the NFL’s Coach of the Year in 1997.

While Fassel may not have guided the team to a championship, the Giants certainly began to turn around under his leadership.   Fassel was able to get the best football out of QB Kerry Collins…and had a great offensive mind.   He will be missed.   RIP, Jim Fassel.
