Mick Jagger was once in the process of writing a memoir, but from the sound of it, that’s a project that’ll likely never come to be from the iconic frontman.

Jagger said in an interview with BBC 6 Music News, “When I started, I was in the 80’s. I was offered a lot of money and the money was the seductive part. And when I started to actually get into it, I really didn’t enjoy it. And what I didn’t enjoy was reliving my life — the detriment of living in the now.”

Jagger added, “If you want to write an autobiography, this is not a process you can just do in a week. It takes a lot out of you. It takes reliving emotions, reliving friendships, reliving ups and downs…and I must say that it wasn’t the most enjoyable experience. And there wasn’t that many highs out of it.”

The large advance Jagger received for the book was eventually given back to the publisher. At the time, Jagger told the publisher his reason for backing out of the book was because he “couldn’t remember anything.” However, the real reason turned out to be that he “just didn’t enjoy the process.”

While a memoir is likely not in the cards from Jagger, we’re at least still getting new music from the icon. Earlier this week, Jagger surprised fans by dropping a new song with Dave Grohl called “Eazy Sleazy,” which was inspired about the eventual “return to normal” following the coronavirus pandemic.

Jagger said in a statement on the track, “I wanted to share this song that I wrote about eventually coming out of lockdown, with some much needed optimism – thank you to Dave Grohl for jumping on drums, bass and guitar, it was a lot of fun working with you on this – hope you all enjoy ‘Eazy Sleazy.'”
