Officials have confirmed an explosion in downtown Asbury Park which occurred on Thursday morning (March 25).

It has been reported that the JCP&L crews are investigating a problem after two manholes exploded. The explosion shook the area right before 9 a.m. and multiple streets have since been evacuated.

According to News12NJ, “There are currently 200 customers without power as a result. Crews are working to get them back in service as soon as possible.”

Police encourage people to avoid the area until further notice.
