Ghost’s new leader Papa Emeritus IV made an appearance on Swedish television where he fronted a cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Sympathy For The Devil” backed by Swedish rock band The Hellacopters.

The performance took place on På Spåret (On the Track)a popular game show in Sweden. It marked the first major appearance by Papa Emeritus IV since his unveiling in March 2020 as Ghost’s new leader at the band’s final tour date in support of their 2018 studio album Prequelle.

Papa Emeritus IV follows Cardinal Copia in the lineage of Ghost’s leaders. At his unveiling, Papa Emeritus IV was seen donning a bold teal papal entire complete with a bejeweled hat, however, during the performance below, he’s seen in a rather subdued suit more in line with the Cardinal’s attire.

Time will tell whether this recent appearance means Ghost will be reemerging with new music in 2021. Without a doubt, their dedicated fan base and all of the Sisters of Sin around the world will be ready.
