Jersey Rock Feature of the Week: Readymade Blakeup
New EP Available to Stream for FREE Now!
“Readymade Blakeup” is a special EP. Its creation spans 2 decades and combines the efforts of members of 2 different bands, neither of which currently exist. At the center of it all is G.E. , who brought members of his former bands The Blakes and Readymade Breakup together to take care of some unfinished business. Their efforts produced 4 solid, unapologetic Power Pop Rock tunes. The perfectly titled “Readymade Blakeup” was worth the wait. It’s an energetic, upbeat effort with an almost nostalgic feel. In a year that keeps getting rougher, it is a welcome diversion.
“Readymade Blakeup” is available for free right now. You can stream it at theblakes.bandcamp.com!
There is definitely a bigger element at play with “Readymade Blakeup” than just its musical contribution to the Jersey Rock scene. The journey this EP took in its creation is potentially more important than even the sum of its parts. It’s very easy to give up, especially when a project feels like it’s well beyond its expiration date. To power through, persevere, and produce the long-sought end result of that project is not only a massive achievement, it’s a testament to the fact that it is never too late to get something done. That fact alone makes the creation of this EP nothing short of inspirational. In 2020 inspiration may be one of the most important things anyone can provide.
Tune to Jersey Rock on 95.9 The Rat Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 11:30 pm to hear cuts from “Readymade Blakeup.” G.E. will call in to the show each night!
