New Jersey Nurse Speaks Out After COVID-19 Spreads Through Family
Sofia Burke is a nurse in Elmwood Park, New Jersey.
Although she has been following all health and safety guidelines since March, she is now in a hospital bed after finding herself in the middle of a “superspreader.”
It all started when the 43-year-old’s mother offered a ride to an elderly friend last month. That person assumed they had a cold which led to Burke’s entire family contracting COVID-19.
According to Eyewitness News, Burke lost her 93-year-old father last week due to COVID-19 complications while her mother is now recovering with oxygen support.
“This thing is so real. You can’t let your guard down for one second,” Burke told Eyewitness News.
