Banner Plane Crashes Into Ocean Off Coast Of Surf City
A Cessna 150 plane crashed into the ocean off the coast of Surf City on Saturday afternoon (June 27).
The plane landed in the ocean at 3:20 p.m. near North 13th Street and Ocean Avenue with the pilot being the only person on board.
According to NJ.com, the pilot was rescued by Surf City lifeguards, Scott Meggitt and Charles Orborne, and was transported to Southern Ocean Medical Center with minor injuries.
The @lovelylbi Instagram account shared the 3:23 second clip below of the incident to their account with the caption “Pilot rescued thanks to our guards, beach patrol and kite surfers!!”
The FAA told NJ.com they will be investigating the cause of the accident along with the Surf City Police and the National Transportation Safety Board.
