Let’s get ready to rumble! BAM!
– East Side Dave
Backlash Opening
Awesome opening. (A)
Apollo Crews Vs. Andrade (United States Championship Match)
Apollo Crews retained his United States Championship with this impressive win over Andrade. (B+)
Bayley & Sasha Banks Vs. The IIconics Vs. Nikki Cross & Alexa Bliss (Women’s Triple Threat Tag Team Championship Match)
Despite some furious action from the other teams, Bayley & Sasha Banks retained their titles. (B-)
Jeff Hardy Vs. Sheamus (Singles Match)
Maybe the match of the night…Sheamus picked up a hard-fought (and somewhat surprising) victory over a gutty Jeff Hardy. (A+)
Asuka Vs. Nia Jax (Raw Women’s Championship Match)
Nia Jax was physically dominant…but she didn’t win. The match ended up in a double-count-out and Asuka retained her belt. (B+)
Braun Strowman Vs. The Miz & John Morrison (2-on-1 match for the Universal Championship)
Braun Strowman defeated Miz & Morrison in this entertaining match to keep his Universal Championship. (B-)
Drew McIntyre Vs. Bobby Lashley (WWE Championsip Match)
Lashley brought arguably his best performance to a WWE ring in years…but it was not enough to overcome the Champion, McIntyre, who retained. (A-)
The Street Profits Vs. Viking Raiders (Parking Lot Brawl)
Some people online LOVED this match…others HATED it. It was one of those new, cinematic matches that was shot more like a mini-movie rather than a sporting competition. This one, specifically, was quite strange. Sometimes fun…sometimes baffling. Oh, and we still don’t know who won the actual match. (C-)
Randy Orton Vs. Edge
In what was boldly being promoted as “The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever”…this contest between two legends certainly was excellent…both performers paid homage to wrestling icons of the past with some signature moves from The Rock, Triple H, and others…plus they had a healthy mix of their own, all-time maneuvers. Can we say it was “the greatest match ever”? Maybe not. But it WAS superb. (A)
