Move over toilet paper, cause the latest hot item during the pandemic is the bicycle.

Bicycle sales and repair services have nearly doubled the numbers from 2019 in recent weeks due to the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the N.P.D. Group, electric bikes rose 85 percent, children’s bikes went up 59 percent, and leisure bikes increased 121 percent.

“I am almost embarrassed to tell you how good our business is during this horrible pandemic,” Arnold Kamler, CEO of Kent International told Bicycle Retailer.

Governor Phily Murphy previously issued an administrative order to allow for in-person sales to resume at bicycle shops in New Jersey on May 20.
