Today marks the 40th Anniversary of one of the greatest Star Wars films of all time...The Empire Strikes Back!

Empire came out on May 21st, 1980...and it is still my personal favorite to this day.

The story-telling got more epic...the visual effects even more spectacular...and the music (by the legendary John Williams) even more amazing.

So, we're making a list...it's East Side Dave's Top 5 Moments From Empire Strikes Back!

Enjoy!  And may the Force be with you!

5.) Han Solo Frozen In Carbonite

I own a Frozen Han paper-weight; Frozen Han refrigerator magnet, and a Frozen Han bottle opener...all because of this incredible scene.

4.) The Battle Of Hoth

Two words for this moment: IMPERIAL WALKERS.  As a kid, the concept of robotic dinosaurs from the future that acted as base-killers...was absolutely AWESOME.   Hell...it still is awesome...and I'm an adult now (arguably).

3.) Millennium Falcon In The Asteroid Field

Listen to the music.  This may be John Williams' best composition for any Star Wars film...and that's saying something.  Combined with revolutionary special effect, this scene RULES.

2.) Yoda Raises Luke's X-Wing Out Of The Swamp

Yoda is an instrumental part of the Star Wars Saga.  His wisdom and patience ultimately lead Luke Skywalker to choose the Light Side over the Dark Side of the Force.  And this is simply one of the best scenes in the entire series.

1.) Darth Vader's Epic Revelation

There simply is no greater plot twist than the one that occurred in this moment.  In fact, it may be one of the greatest revelations in movie history.

Happy 40th Anniversary to The Empire Strikes Back!
