To commemorate this most magical of days...we will present a list to you. A list that may in fact SHOCK your very soul to the core. Get ready for controversy, my kindly Ewoks. Because this will get DARK.
And now, without further ado, it's East Side Dave's Top 5 Star Wars Characters! BOOM!

5.) Obi-Wan Kenobi
As portrayed by Alec Guinness, Obi-Wan was a grand, wise, old wizard. As portrayed by Ewan McGregor, Obi-Wan showed that he was one of the great Jedi warriors ever.

4.) Rey
Rey is THE most important character in the new trilogy. Her mysterious background, her incredible lightsaber fight in Episode VIII, and her ultimate discovery of her galactic ancestry in Episode IX are among the most memorable moments of the Saga.

3.) Luke Skywalker
The classic trilogy (Episodes IV through VI) showcased Luke as all of us...an everyman or everywoman...looking to find out his place in the Galaxy.

2.) Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker
No one brought the complexity of emotions to the Saga quite like this character. As Anakin, he was honorable and loyal...but temperamental and short-sighted. As Vader, he was menacing and evil...but also had a sadness that led to him turning back to the Light Side.

1.) Emperor Palpatine
Here's the real shocker of the list. But from Episode I all the way through Episode IX...on singular, villainous entity has been trying to control the Universe...and his name is Palpatine. Sorry...but this guy just flat-out RULES. And, quite frankly, the Star Wars story would not be as epic and deep without this horrible person.
