As the coronavirus quarantine soldiers on, so does Billie Joe Armstrong’s #NoFunMondays covers series.

Armstrong’s latest cover is his take on “That Thing You Do!”, the Academy Award-nominated song from the 1996 film of the same title starring Tom Hanks, Liv Tyler and Tom Everett Scott.

In a statement on the cover, Armstrong said, “Another week, another No Fun Mondays. Today’s song is a tribute to the late Adam Schlesinger and the incredible music he wrote including this one, ‘That Thing You Do’.” Schlesinger, who was a co-founder of Fountains of Wayne, died on April 1 from complications due to COVID-19.

“That Thing You Do!” is the fifth cover from Armstrong’s #NoFunMondays series. Other covers released include the following: Tommy James and the Shondells’ “I Think We’re Alone Now”Johnny Thunders’ “You Can’t Put Your Arms Around A Memory”The Bangles’ “Manic Monday,” featuring Bangles frontwoman Susanna Hoffs; and The Avengers’ “Corpus Christi.”
