While we are all busy wiping down surfaces and cleaning everything in sight, be really careful about mixing household products.
There are several combinations that are harmful, so let’s list some things that you should NOT mix:
Bleach and rubbing alcohol make chloroform, you know the stuff they use in films to knock people out. The last thing you want is to knock yourself out while cleaning the house.
Bleach and vinegar make chlorine gas. Which was first used as a chemical weapon in World War One.
Bleach and ammonia make chloramine gas. Windex and a lot of other household cleaners contain ammonia. So check the label. It might be listed as “ammonium hydroxide.”
Hydrogen peroxide and vinegar make a toxic compound called peracetic acid. It’s been known to cause a lot of respiratory issues.
Google anything you suspect may cause harm.
