RIP to the WWE’s Howard Finkel
Legendary WWE ringside announcer Howard Finkel has died. He was 69.
The cause of death has not yet been revealed, but he had been in poor health recently.
Finkel was an incredible ringside announcer. His iconic voice was synonymous with big-time matches from the ’70’s, ’80’s, and ’90’s.
“The Fink” is also credited with coming up with the name WrestleMania. Originally, Vince McMahon wanted to call their biggest show of the year…Colossal Tussle. No joke.
Howard was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame in 2009.
He was also kind enough to take a picture with me and my kids a few years back at iPlay America in Freehold (below).
RIP, Mr. Finkel. Thank you for being a gentleman.
