Outside of bands, Schlesinger had a prolific career composing music for TV and film. He was nominated for an Academy Award and Golden Globe in 1997 for “That Thing You Do,” the title track from the film That Thing You Do! about a 1960’s one-hit-wonder band. He also served as one of the primary composers and the executive music producer for CW’s musical dramedy series Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. During the show’s four-season run, Schlesinger won an Emmy in 2019 for Outstanding Music and Lyrics for “Anti-Depressants are So Not a Big Deal.”
