The City of Asbury Park‘s Emergency Management Coordinator has declared a State of Local Disaster Emergency as of today (March 15).

Due to the rapidly evolving outbreak of COVID-19, all city facilitates will be closed to the public effective immediately. This includes City Hall, Municipal Court, the Public Library, the Senior Center and the Deparment of Public Works.

The city expressed in a statement that they are encouraging all businesses to be proactive and follow the guidelines of the CDC which includes social distancing, continual cleaning and sanitation of facilities, and listing of patrons at their establishments.

In addition, restaurants, event spaces, hotel lobbies, retail, among other businesses will be required to close on a daily basis no later than 10 p.m.

Asbury Park hopes to minimize exposure for employees and will remain responsive to residents and their needs through phone and online communication.
