On this day in 1990…the boxing World Heavyweight Champion, Mike Tyson, was shockingly upset by Buster Douglas.

With the odds of Douglas winning at a remarkable 42 to 1…the match would go down as arguably the biggest upset in boxing history.

The fight took place in Japan and was one of those “Where were you when you heard Tyson was knocked out?” moments (I was in bed…as I was 12…but I remember vividly hearing the startling news on the radio).

Buster Douglas would go on to lose the title to Evander Holyfield in his very next match…and would never fight again.

As for Tyson…this was the end of “Iron Mike” in his prime.  He would continue to box for a decade…but would never come close to being the indestructible force that he was in the late ’80’s.

Check out some great videos.
