Papa Roach released their tenth studio album, Who Do You Trust?, in January, and nearly a year after its release, the band is already working on new material.

Frontman Jacoby Shaddix touched on that topic on Talkin’ Rock with Meltdown, and when asked about what lyrical themes the band’s exploring, he said, “Something’s been floating around in my mind lately, and I feel like I censor myself a lot about what I talk about, what I believe, and how I feel for fear of offending people. I’m tired of that. Not that I want to be some crass, rude individual, but do I have to pander to a certain belief or idea? I have this internal conflict all of the time personally, because I really like to give people a chance and listen to people’s opinions and ideas. I think that’s really important, but I also want people to listen to my opinions and my ideas.”

Shaddix continued, “I’m not going to be able to make music forever…I have this internal conflict as I’m getting older. I feel with my relationship with the world and the knowledge that I have and the things that I’ve learned. Not to say I’m some wise cat, because I’ve got my struggles. I just don’t want to have things left unsaid and stones left unturned, so I’ve got to be thorough, and that’s going to make for some exciting music.”

Also on tap in 2020 will be events celebrating the 20th anniversary of Papa Roach’s debut album Infest. Shaddix did say the band will be performing the album in its entirety, but “…exactly where those shows are going to pop up, that’s the surprise.”

Next year, Papa Roach hits the road with Five Finger Death Punch on the second leg of their arena tour, which also features I Prevail and Ice Nine Kills. A complete list of tour dates can be found at PapaRoach.com.
