5.) Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)
You didn’t think I’d leave out a Star Wars movie, did you? Yes…I admit it…I’m a subjective lover of the Saga. BUT…it’s important to remember that before the divisive Episode VIII: The Last Jedi severely split fan opinion…both audiences and critics rekindled their love of the Galaxy far, far away with this film (directed by J.J. Abrams) which kicked off a brand new era of Star Wars under the Disney banner.
4.) The Social Network (2010)
Directed by the amazing David Fincher, The Social Network is a suspenseful and fascinating look at the birth of Facebook. Throw in a tremendous score from Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, and this is definitely one of the most relevant and interesting films of the 2010’s.
3.) Django Unchained (2012)
Quentin Tarantino followed up his fantastic Inglourious Basterds (2009) with this wild, sometimes crazy, often exhilarating story with incredible performances from Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson, and Chistoph Waltz. Quite simply, an absolute powerhouse of a movie.
2.) The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014)
Wes Anderson crafted this exquisite and beautiful fairy-tale that works on every level. It’s gorgeous-looking, with wonderful music, great dialogue, and a charming and timeless story. One of the most enchanting films of the past ten years. Easily.
1.) Inception (2010)
Master film-maker Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight, Dunkirk, Memento) created this trippy and utterly epic tale that is perfect for this psychedelic and online decade. Moving between reality, fantasy, and technology, Inception is truly one of the best films ever made.
