Uber is officially letting animals ride along too. The ride-share app is rolling out a new feature that allows riders to notify their driver that they are bringing a pet along. People explains that with Uber Pet, passengers will have “peace of mind so they know they’ll be able to arrive at their destination with their pet, without any interruptions or surprises.”
The Uber Pet feature will run $3 – $5 per ride, and to start, will only be available for users in Austin, Denver, Nashville, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Phoenix, and Tampa Bay. Drivers who don’t like furry friends can opt-out of Uber Pet, but those who allow it get a “significant portion of that surcharge, on top of their standard trip earning.”
Uber Pet begins October 16.
