Flashback Friday: Looking Back At The ’91 GNR St. Louis Incident
LAS VEGAS, NV - MAY 21: Singer Axl Rose of Guns N' Roses performs at The Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino during the opening night of the band's second residency, "Guns N' Roses - An Evening of Destruction. No Trickery!" on May 21, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by Ethan Miller/Getty Images)
We were just shooting the bull here on the Morning Rat Race, listening to Guns ‘N’ Roses‘ “You Could Be Mine”, when we started to reminisce about Axl Rose and the St. Louis incident from 1991.
It was July 2nd, and G’N’R was playing the Riverport Amphiteatre in Missouri.
Axl was frustrated that someone in the audience was shooting the performance…and that security seemed to be doing very little about it.
So, during “Rocket Queen”, Axl leapt into the crowd to take the guy’s camera away from him.
After a small skirmish, Axl got back on stage and told the crowd he was outta there.
This began a riot in the arena and created one of those crazy, notorious moments in rock history.
Enjoy!
