Add a Led Zeppelin documentary to the list of things being unveiled in honor of the band’s 50th anniversary.

The currently untitled documentary is in post-production and will cover the band’s early musical history in the 1960s, their initial meeting and will end with the release of Led Zeppelin II, which famously dethroned The Beatles’ Abbey Road from the top of the Billboard album charts. This is the very first time Zeppelin has authorized and participated in a documentary in their history.

The documentary will feature new interviews with Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and John Paul Jones and rare archival interviews with the late John Bonham. On top of that, the doc will also contain never before seen archival film and photographs and state of the art audio transfers of the band’s music.

The project is directed by Bernard MacMahon, who’s best known for the 2017 documentary film The American Epic SessionsPage said in a statement, “When I saw everything Bernard had done both visually and sonically on the remarkable achievement that is American Epic, I knew he would be qualified to tell our story.”

While a release date is currently unknown, fans can pass the time with the new Zeppelin logo generator or create your own ultimate Zeppelin playlist at LedZeppelin.com.
