Fan Starts Petition for Black Hole to be Named After Chris Cornell
A Chris Cornell fan is hoping the first ever photographed black hole will also become a tribute to the late Soundgarden singer.
Giuliana Jarrin recently launched a petition at Change.org asking “NASA, the Event Horizon Telescope Collaboration and all the astronomers and scientists involved in this discovery, to name this black hole after Chris Cornell. This would be a ‘surreal’ and amazing way to honor his life and his contribution to music.”
The fact the image of the black hole looks vaguely similar to the artwork from 1994’s Superunknown, which features the hit “Black Hole Sun,” wasn’t lost on fans or the band themselves. Earlier this week, the Soundgarden Facebook page shared an image of the black hole with the caption, “Looks oddly familiar… #EHTBlackHole” along with a link to Superunknown on Spotify.
