Halestorm's Lzzy Hale, Joe Hottinger Advocate for Musicians, Music Education in D.C.

Halestorm's Lzzy Hale and Joe Hottinger were in Washington, D.C. yesterday as part of the Recording Academy's Advocacy group to speak with members of Congress about the rights of music creators and music and arts education.

Hale and Hottinger shared a number of photos via their Instagrams of their experience at the Capital. Hale detailed their day on the Hill with the following caption:

"I got to be a part of an incredible group of advocates today at Captial Hill. We walked the halls, and had intimate meetings with senators, and other men and women of Congress both democratic and republican...helping reform/change laws to help All our fellow music creators. I got to witness the universal language of music in full power today. We spoke and shared our stories, fighting to ensure that our next generations of poets/artists/songwriters/performers have the foundation they need to grow and pursue their passion thru access to music/arts education.

We also stood for all our working musicians' rights to be properly compensated for the work they bestow upon this country. It's our Constitutional Right. Because “Without Music, Life would be a mistake”- Friedrich Nietzsche. Thank you so much to the @recordingacademy for giving me this opportunity to make a difference. And thank you to everyone involved with #GrammysOnTheHill This was truly a moving experience...one that I will take with me through my songwriting and on my journey as a proud musician. I will not waste my time in the light!"

After touring the halls of Congress, Halestorm returns to their regular touring. They have a very busy touring schedule this spring and summer that includes a number of dates with Alice Cooper. For a full list of upcoming tour dates, go to HalestormRocks.com.

I'm so proud to be an ambassador for Rock and representing the universal language of MUSIC here in DC. I'm talking with members of Congress today about our rights as music creators, and the importance of music/arts funding in school. #GRAMMYsOnTheHill @recordingacademy @GRAMMYadvocacy

Today, Lzzy and I got to be a part of an amazing group of music advocates. We talked to Senators and Congressmen about reforming/changing laws to help all music creators. Thanks to @recordingacademy for putting this together and for all that they do to for music. Here's to us! #grammysonthehill
