Buzzcocks Singer Pete Shelley Dead at 63
Punks the world over are mourning the loss of Buzzcocks singer Pete Shelley, who passed away at the age of 63.
The band confirmed Shelley’s passing via Twitter with the following statement:
“It’s with great sadness that we confirm the death of Pete Shelley, one of the UK’s most influential and prolific songwriters and co-found of the seminal original punk band Buzzcocks. Pete’s music has inspired generations of musicians over a career that spanned five decades and with his band and as a solo artist, he was held in the highest regard by the music industry and by his fans around the world. BBC News is reporting that a heart attack is the cause of death.
The Buzzcocks have released nine studio albums, the most recent being 2014’s The Way. Alongside the likes of the Clash and the Sex Pistols, they were integral in the British Punk scene of the 1970s.
